I had so much fun completing my own version of the eyeshadow palette tag, I was excited to see another version dedicated to which eyeshadow palettes are best for special occasions. It’s the Eyeshadow Palette Wardrobe Tag!
Because many of us cannot celebrate many special occasions the way that we typically would right now, I found it fun to dream about all of the places I will one day wear these eyeshadow palettes – – hopefully one day soon.

BEST PALETTE FOR WEDDING GUEST
Colourpop bare necessities ($34)
Kicking off this list is one of my all-time favorite eyeshadow palettes, ColourPop’s Bare Necessities. As a wedding guest, you should always play to your strengths and wear your signature colors (except if one of those colors is white!).
Pink is my signature color. (I’ve always wanted to say that! And if you get that reference, we totally get each other). But in all seriousness, muted flesh tones and pink are my favorites to wear so this palette is the perfect companion. And even if pink isn’t your color, this palette is the most gorgeous neutral palette out there. And you can glam it up or down depending upon the wedding you’re attending.

Anastasia Beverly Hills sultry ($45)
Ok, ok, so I know this seems like the easy choice given the name, but I promise I didn’t cheat. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette (which is currently making an appearance again!) is perfect for date night! Whether you use a single shimmer shadow for the entire lid or blend the mattes and shimmers for a smoked out look, it can be perfectly dialed up or dialed down. You can’t go wrong with this palette.

Anastasia Beverly Hills jackie aina ($45)
Now I’m not going to admit how long it’s actually been since I’ve been out for a true girls night, COVID-19 notwithstanding. But when I dream about a night out with my girlfriends – – I dream in technicolor. Meaning it’s not just one night, it’s a whole weekend away. And the eyeshadow palette going into my overnight bag is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Jackie Aina palette. With its bright pinks and gorgeous purples, it’s fun and just a little bit quirky. It also has perfectly paired neutral mattes and transition shades; this palette is just perfectly curated for a weekend getaway.

huda beauty mercury retrograde ($67)
Every time I look at the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette, I swoon over the color palette. And once, just once – – I want to have a place to wear those gorgeous glitters. Now that’s just me – – if glittery eyeshadow is your thing, wear it girl! But for me, it’s reserved for special occasions. So I write this in the hopes that my hubby will read it and perhaps plan a birthday party one day where I can wear this gorgeous glittery eyeshadow palette.
best palette for a vacation
natasha denona bronze ($65)
This is the only category for which I went back and forth. I was between the Natasha Denona Sunset palette and this one, the Natasha Denona Bronze palette. In the last vacation I went on prior to the pandemic, I took the Natasha Denona Sunset palette and absolutely loved it. But in the spirit of this post, in dreaming about future vacations, I want to take the Natasha Denona Bronze palette. The hues are beautiful for all skin tones and just scream glistening sun, soft sandy beaches and mango margaritas. Ok, maybe I got a little carried away but I do plan on sipping quite a few mango margaritas on my next vacation while wearing this palette. ?
best palette for a graduation
juvia’s place nomad ($16)
Whether you’re the one graduating or you’re celebrating a recent graduate, the Juvia’s Place Nomad palette is an excellent choice for a “grown up” neutral palette with a little something extra. It’s base is made up of cool-toned neutrals that pair well with any cap and gown but also have some beautifully unique green and yellow shades. Not to mention, the almost perfect shimmer shade – – not just gold, not just taupe but somewhere in the perfect middle.

natasha denona biba ($129)
So not everyone’s office culture is the same but in most cases, makeup for the regular office day is really a “no makeup” makeup look. And especially these days, when many of us weekday warriors are working from home, you especially don’t want to show up to your video conference calls looking like you “tried too hard”. For that reason, the Natasha Denona Biba palette is a perfect choice for an understated look.

colourpop going coconuts ($12)
In my eyeshadow palette tag post, I selected the Persona Identity palette as the best for everyday. And I stand behind that choice but in looking through my palettes for this video, I wanted to find a more affordable alternative for an everyday palette. And the Colourpop Going Coconuts palette checks the boxes. It’s more affordable, at $12, but still includes a beautiful array of neutral colors perfect for coffee runs – – errr, I mean everyday. ?

too faced gingerbread ($49)
This one was the easiest to choose. The Too Faced Gingerbread palette is far and away my favorite seasonal palette. And it smells just fantastic! At some point, I’d love to try a palette with a perfect shimmery red like the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership. But then I realize that I have no idea what I’d do with a red shimmery eyeshadow. But the Gingerbread palette, there’s endless looks you can make with it and I love them all.
best palette for new year’s eve
natasha denona glam ($65)
The newest addition to the small palette collection from Natasha Denona is what I would select had I fancy New Year’s celebration to attend. The Natasha Denona Glam palette is an amazingly curated collection of cool and neutral shimmers and mattes. Even despite COVID-19 getting in the way, our New Year’s celebrations are typically food, fun and families all spread out across our house. But if I ever find myself tippling champagne, wearing high heels and a fancy dress at a New Year’s Eve bash, you can bet I’ll be wearing this palette on my eyes.
best palette for Valentine’s Day
Anastasia Beverly Hills norvina ($45)
The category that I added to the eyeshadow wardrobe tag is the palette best for a Valentine’s Day date. Infused with pretty pinks and purples, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina palette speaks Valentine’s Day to me. And even if my husband and I are having our Valentine’s Day date in the living room after our daughter is to bed this year, I’ll spend a few minutes gettin’ pretty with this palette.
