Disney Outfit Guide

The countdown to our Walt Disney World trip is in the single digits! ✈️  The excitement level in our house is off the charts as we finish up all of the preparations for our visit to the happiest place on Earth.

One of my favorite preparation activities is planning what I will wear in Walt Disney World.  I love Disney and I love fashion so the two make for a fun combination! In this post, I am excited to reveal my Disney Outfit Guide where I will share all of the outfits that my daughter and I will be wearing to the vacation kingdom!

I will note, here, that this post is NOT sponsored and at this time, does not contain any affiliate links.  All of these pieces were 100% selected by me and paid for with my own money.  All opinions are my own and are always truthful and genuine regardless of sponsorship, referral links and/or affiliation.

Planning a Walt Disney World vacation can sometimes feel overwhelming, let alone deciding what to pack.  To even begin planning what I’ll pack and wear starts with our vacation’s itinerary.  If this term seems daunting, don’t panic!  Your itinerary doesn’t have to be complicated – – it’s just a rough outline of your plans for each day.  ?  For you Disney veterans, time to whip out your color-coordinated, laminated schedule (just kidding).

Questions to ask:  What parks will you be visiting on each day?  Where and how are you traveling? Are you planning any themed or character meals?

You will note that I theme every. single. outfit.  That’s because I love it!  Doesn’t mean you have to.  For me, it adds to the fun of my vacation and I also look back on clothing that I’ve worn on our vacation and can reminisce about a special moment associated with it.

Here are my tried and true, tested tips for choosing clothing for a Walt Disney World vacation:

❃ Choose clothing that is light and breathable.

In Florida, it’s hot (and humid)!  Almost all year round. For park days, that means choosing clothes that are light and breathable and avoiding heavy fabrics

If you don’t plan to do laundry while on vacation, it also means packing more outfits than you think you may need.  Because who wants to wear the same clothes you sweat through at the dinner you’ve been looking forward to all year long?

You probably don’t need an extra outfit for every day of your trip, but pack some extras so you can transition from day to evening feeling refreshed and ready for more fun.

❃ Pack appropriate rain attire.

In Florida, it likes to rain, a lot.  (I’m rocking your world with my meteorological knowledge, I know).  But seriously, no matter the time of year, central Florida is prone to rain showers that can pop up from almost nowhere.

Be sure to pack appropriate rain attire like ponchos or a rain jacket.  Both have pros and cons but I would suggest that bring either your poncho or rain jacket with you to avoid overpaying for one at Walt Disney World.

❃ Dressing up for dinner is OPTIONAL!

While it’s fun to dress up for special dinners, it’s not mandatory! There are only a select few restaurants with dress codes but otherwise, standard “resort wear” is perfectly acceptable.  Dress codes for all of the restaurants in Walt Disney World can be found on disneyworld.com.

Most have a common sense approach, only restricting torn/ripped clothing, clothing with obscenities, things like that. If you want to dress up, do it!  It’s your vacation!  But if shorts and t-shirts are your jam – – that’s fine, too.

❃ Wear comfortable shoes.

If you take nothing else away after reading this, I hope you remember this tip.  The parks (and many of the resorts) are enormous, labyrinths of spaces for you to enjoy – – on foot.  You cannot underestimate the amount of walking you will do at Walt Disney World. It’s likely the most walking you do at one time, ever.

Don’t believe me?  Pull up Walt Disney World on Google Maps or Google Earth and check out the distance between the EPCOT park entrance and the American Adventure pavilion (also found in EPCOT).  Go ahead, I’ll wait.

In short, it’s a looooong walk between those two points because, oh I forgot to mention, you can’t make that walk in a straight shot.  ?

My best recommendations for shoes at Walt Disney World are sneakers/trainers that have support for your foot.  There are so many options out there depending on your arch, your foot width, you name it.  Now is the time to find the perfect kind for you.

And lastly, whatever you do, break. them. in.  Even worse than picking the wrong shoes is wearing brand new shoes.  Blisters = worst vacation ever.

Keeping all of the above things in mind, I begin by planning my outfits for each day.  I usually bring one outfit for day and one outfit for evening or dinner.  Shorts and a shirt or a dress/romper for day time at the theme parks and I love wearing dresses for evening where we have dinners planned.

As I mentioned, I choose comfortable shoes that I’ve already broken in to wear to the theme parks.  For dressier outfits, I try to choose a neutral pair of shoes that will coordinate with almost anything so I am not tempted to pack every pair of shoes I own!
